The Department of Internal Revenue in Yangon took action against 520 restaurant owners who failed to use tax stamps issued by the government and fined Ks133 million during the 2016-2017 fiscal year, according to U Myint Thaung, Yangon Region Cabinet’s Minister for Planning and Finance.

Under the current government led by the National League for Democracy, more than 50,000 tonnes of illegal timber and 2,599 vehicles and machinery pieces were seized and 11 foreigners and 8,310 Myanmar nationals arrested for timber smuggling, said Khin Maung Yi, permanent secretary of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environmental Conservation.

CEA Project Logistics Myanmar were recently contracted to handle the transportation and installation of two 18tn vertical storage tanks at a Yangon brewery. The project proved complex due to two cranes being required to operate in a very narrow location outside the facility.
