Thai & Lao Entrepreneurs Win Prestigious Leadership Scholarships

Two female entrepreneurs, one from Thailand and the other from Lao PDR, are recipients of this year’s 2018 Asean Global Leadership Program (AGLP) Scholarship from regional Management Consulting firm SRW&Co.

Nasha Jungkankul from Thailand, whose Kunna Groceries Co. won the Growth category in the Asean Business Awards (ABAs) in September, and Sirina Sisombat Hervy, who took out the title of Asean Women Entrepreneur of the Year at the same ceremony with her company Sinouk Coffee, will attend a week-long training programme at New York University’s STERN School of Business in April next year.

The AGLP is a flagship leadership development programme initiated by SRW&Co., in 2009, that sees programmes held annually in the US and UK in collaboration with world class business schools such as Cambridge Judge Business School, the London Business School, UC Berkeley Haas School of Business and NYU Stern School of Business. There is currently 350 AGLP alumni, comprising senior leaders from the corporate and public sectors in the ASEAN countries.

SRW&Co., Chairman, Daniel Wong, said the two recipients demonstrated the the very visionary qualities of business entrepreneurship and commitment to grow their business beyond their home countries that the AGLP was established to foster”.

According to the official statement, Nasha Jungkankul’s Kunna Groceries Co.,Ltd, is very successful healthy snack brand in Thailand which aims to grow and expand its business in the growing health and well-being sphere, while Sirina Sisombat Hervy is the managing director of Sinouk Coffee, a leader player in the Coffee industry in Lao PDR.

Ms Jungkankul said the AGLP scholarship will provide her with the opportunity to improve her knowledge and share her experiences with her class contemporaries, while also learning from the world class faculty of NYU Stern.

Meanwhile, Ms Sisombat, who plans to expand her coffee empire so that it is a recognised player in the Asean market within the next five years, and raise the awareness level of Lao coffee on the international stage expects the study programme and scholarship will “improve my effectiveness as a leader in my company and broaden my vision”.
