00:42 | Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha is to visit Sa Kaeo Province today to inspect border crossing operations and how immigration officers perform their tasks, particularly with regard to processing foreign workers and smuggling prevention. In addition, he will present land rental agreements and tools to representatives of local cooperatives.

01: 38 | Surachai Liengboonlertchai, first vice president of the National Legislative Assembly (NLA), has denied rumours circulating that the NLA was proposing to enact a law banning politicians from having an unmarried spouse.

02:39 | Energy Minister General Anantaporn Kanjanarat has visited P.P. Packaging Company Limited, a foam and plastic food containers making company in central Thailand, to inspect an energy conservation initiative it has implemented as part of the government’s programme encouraging entrepreneurs to save energy.

Over the past 12 months the ministry has approved more than Bt45 million (about US$1.3 million) in financial support for 23 businesses to implement energy saving projects from its ESCO revolving fund, which it says has saved 17.63 gigawatt hours, or more than Bt45 million ($1.354 million).

03:45 | Senior officials from the Office of the Prime Minster (OOPM) have been briefed on the progress of a pipeline being constructed from Surat Thani Province to Ko Samui. The 125 km (77.7 mile) long pipe will deliver 24,000 cubic meters of water upon completion.

05:09 | Officials from the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (Moac) have visited a ‘domestically integrated rice market’ in Sisaket Province where 428 farmers have established a cooperative organic rice network that has delivered increased yields and lower costs.

06:30 | Newsline takes a look at the newly established Sea Salt Learning Center (SSLC) in Samut Sakhon Province where visitor can see the whole process of sea salt farming and processing.  The SSLC aims to increase awareness among younger generations about sea salt farming, while also providing assistance to sea salt farmers.

10:52 | Winners of a ‘Love World Less Waste’ contest for elementary and secondary students to boost public awareness of the need for waste sorting were announced at a ceremony over the weekend. The winners in the two categories each received Bt20,000 ($599) cash award and certificates of achievement.

12:03 | The Ministry of Social Development and Human Security (MSDHS) presented awards to outstanding communities with good living quality and environment. The objective is to urge residents of government houses to improve the community. Categories comprise hygiene, atmosphere, building maintenance, and more.

13:00| On Saturday the National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) organised training for 24 civil society leaders aimed at creating a sustainable, corruption-free society. All participant expected to introduce the knowledge gained into their communities.

13:56 | Satun Province has organised the 9th annual Satun Wonderland festival featuring 400 off-road vehicles belonging to members of the Classic Offroad Club from 14 Southern provinces aimed at promoting provincial tourism. Newsline takes a look at the vehicles on display.

16:36 | Hat Yai International Airport is to undergo major renovation in response to the increasing number of passengers using the destination. The renovations included enlarging the apron, enlarging the passenger hall, adding more pit stops, improving the taxiway and the taxiway lighting system, and installing an intrusion prevention system. The renovation are expected to be completed by 2019 and see the airport able to handle 4.5 millions passenger and up to 31,000 flights a year.

17:44 | Thai writers, Rewat Panpipat, a well-known writer and poet, and documentary writer Weerasak Chansongsaeng, have won Mekong River Literature Award’s. The two received their awards at a ceremony at the Thailand Cultural Centre (TCC) in Bangkok which saw more than 350 distinguished guests from Mekong River countries attend. The awards aim to promote culture and literature and to strengthen friendship among member countries.

19:03 | Thailand is currently ranked second in the 29th SEA Game with 54 golds, 71 slivers, and 68 bronze medals. Host nation Malaysia is still at the top following by Vietnam and Singapore in third and forth place.
