00:43 | The private sector in the Provinces of Kalasin, Saraburi, Rayong, and Uthai Thani will soon commence constructing replicas of the Royal Crematorium so that Thais can continue to pay homage to the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej after the royal cremation in October.

02:03 | Thai broadcasters have agreed to modify the look and content of their programmes throughout October to honour the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, whose cremation will take place on October 26.

03:33 | The cabinet has approved financial welfare measures for 11.67 million low-income earners including a monthly allowance of Bt300  (about US$9) for government-sponsored ‘Blue flag’ food product purchases and a Bt45 (1.35) discount for three months to purchase cooking gas.

Meanwhile, Minister of Industry, Uttama Savanayana, said on Tuesday that the cabinet has approved plans to promote automation and robotics, by providing a 50 per cent corporate income tax (CIT) deduction for businesses that adopt robotics to boost their productivity, a 300 per cent CIT waiver for companies that invest in automation research, and low-interest loans for small-and-medium enterprises (SMEs) that implement robotics.

05:13 | The cabinet has earmarked a budget of Bt2.22 billion ($66.888 million) from the emergency reserve fund for the implementation of 11 projects proposed by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives (Moac), which consists of three water management projects and eight agricultural development projects.

Furthermore, the Cabinet also approved the Oil Palm and Palm Oil Act, which is hoped to develop and promote Thailand’s palm oil industry.

07:03 | Constitutional Drafting Commission (CDC) Chairman, Meechai Ruchuphan, said that the appointment of members of independent organisations must be done according to the Constitution, except for the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC), whose members will be replaced after the new draft law on the National Human Rights Commission comes into effect.

08:07 | The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) is reviewing a second Government-to-Government (G2G) rice deal consisting of eight contracts for the sale of 14 million tons of rice, and seven contracts for the sale of 4.79 million tons of tapioca, to a non-state sanctioned entity in China by people and groups already found guilty by the Supreme Court in the Yingluck Shinawatra administration’s rice pledging scheme.

11:42 | The Department of Land Transport (DLT) is working with insurance companies to share public transportation providers’ GPS information and travel logs, which will be used to calculate their insurance premiums.

12:27 | Government agencies and state enterprises have agreed to support One Tambon, One Product (Otop) businesses with the signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to help product development through the disbursement of financial aid, and the promotion of Otop products abroad.

13:19 | The Stock Exchange of Thailand (Set) organised the Thailand Focus 2017 Investment Fair on August 29 aimed at attracting more investments to the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC). Thirty foreign companies have pledged to invest Bt1.5 trillion ($45.194 billion) in the EEC in 2018, with the Set expecting the number to increase due to the approval of several connectivity projects for the EEC. The forum was told that in the second quarter of 2017 Thailand’s GDP increased by 3.7 per cent, the highest rate in 17 quarters.

14:54 | Chairman of the Real Estate Trade Association (RETA) under the Board of Trade of Thailand (BoToT), Athip Pichanon, said on Tuesday that the taxation clauses in the draft law on land and property is flawed and needs to be further reviewed. The law is expected to come into effect in January 2019.
