00:38 | Thais continue to pay respects to the late king Bhumibol Adulyadej at the Grand Palace. Meanwhile a new road is being built to allow the royal carriages to exit the Royal Garage and cremation ceremony and while an additional road specifically engineered to support the 14 ton (15.43 US ton) carriages will be built into Sanam Luang

02:50 | The Foreign Ministry has confirmed that two of the three Thai families living in London’s Grenfell Tower were unharmed in the recent fire. The whereabouts of the third family, however, remains unknown.

04:39 | The draft organic act on the Ombudsman has passed its first reading before the National Legislative Assembly (NLA). A vetting committee will study the draft over the next 45 days.

06:26 | The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has asked one of its members, Sangsit Piriyarangsan, to defend himself after being sued by the Royal Thai Police (RTP). Mr Piriyarangsan was sued after making comments about the RTP which the NRSA has judged were useful for reforming the force.

07:49 | Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wissanu Krea-gnam is confident that the reform of the police will be completed before April 6, 2018, the deadline stated in the Thailand Constitution. Dr Krea-ngam has stated that selection of a committee to lead the reform of the Royal Thai Police (RTP) is underway.

09:01 | Former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul has been granted Bt3 million (about US$88,339) bail after being accused of issuing new passports to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra in 2011. Mr Shinawatra’s diplomatic passport had been revoked three years prior.

12:35 | Minister of Public Health, Dr Piyasakol Sakolsatayadorn, has confirmed that amendments to the National Health Act will not infringe on people’s rights. He has also affirmed his willingness to listen to Thais’ opinions on the revisions.

13:48 | The Department of Disease Control (DoDC) has warned to public to remain vigilant for mosquito breeding areas after reports showed that almost 70,000 people in seven Asean member countries had contracted dengue fever in the first half of this year. The warning coincided with Asean Dengue Day on June 15. Dengue fever caused 57 deaths over the period, with 21 of them in Thailand in the first five months of 2017.

15:15 | The third annual Smart SME Expo, which this year is themed ‘Total SMEs Solutions’, will take place between June 29th -July 2nd at IMPACT Muang Thong Thani. The event will feature seminars and special loan programmes to facilitate the development of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), with more than 500 exhibition booths covering some 10,000 sq.m (107,639 sq.ft). Seminars on product development, and marketing for a modern day market will be held, as well as business matching.

16:41 | Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has met with the Cuban Ambassador to Thailand, Hector Conde Almeida, to discuss cooperation in education, tourism, and economic development between the two countries.

18:00 | The Thailand Government Public Relations Department (PRD) is hosting an English speech contest themed, ‘Our Asean, Our Future’ in honour of Asean’s 50th anniversary. Twenty high school students were selected from 220 on June 9th to take part in the in the final round of the competition on June 21, where they will be competing for scholarships of up to Bt55,000 ($1,620).
