• The National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA) has called for more submissions from the public to implement the reform process.

• A committee comprising 17 military officers and 14 governors of southern provinces chaired by the Commander-in-Chief of the Royal Thai Army, General Chalermchai Sitthisart, has been established to conduct public forums over the next one month on the construction of coal-fired power plants in Southern Thailand.

• Bangkok Metropolitain Administration (BMA) staff have taken part in a ‘Big Cleaning Day’ in Don Mueang District, Bangkok, cleaning and beautifying 4km (2.5 mile) of Song Prapha Road.

• Anti-alcohol groups have joined together to campaign for a total ban on alcohol at public entertainment events during the upcoming Songkran holiday, traditionally one of the deadliest seven-day periods on Thailand’s roads (See: Drunk Driving in Thailand)

• Thailand plans to use the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) as a hub to connect the CLMVT (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Vietnam, and Thailand) group. Deputy prime minister Somkid Jatusripitak told a seminar that CLMVT members need to add value to their exports and modify regulations that are hampering business growth.
