00:42 | Thailand King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has approved a one month extension for the public to view the royal crematorium at Sanam Luang before it will be dismantled. The royal funeral grounds and exhibits will now remain open until the end of this year.

01:42 | Volunteers under the ‘We do goods with our hearts’ campaign in Trat and Nakhon Sawan have undertaken community clean-up projects focusing on cleaning waterways.

02:56 | Deputy prime minister and Defence Minister, General Prawit Wongsuwan said the anti-coal power protestors arrested in Songkhla Province during the prime minister’s Cabinet retreat were obstructing traffic and interfering with police duties. He said the matter has nothing to do with human rights abuse.

General Wongsuwan said the renewal of the Internal Security Operations Act in the four districts of Songkhla and one district of Pattani was a routine extension of an existing order set to expire today. He said it is unrelated to the anti-coal power protests.

04:31 | The government is planning to work on all laws relating to local and provincial elections in December, with all amendments expected to be ready for the Cabinet prior to the end of next month, before proceeding to the National Legislative Assembly (NLA) in January.

07:00 | Residents in Thailand’s southern provinces have been told to remain alert to local weather conditions as rain continues to saturate the region. King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has sent relief bags to some residents.

10:38 | The Alcohol Watch Group (AWG) and some 80 educational institutions have held a seminar calling for the enforcement of alcohol-free zoning laws in close proximity to education institutes.

Akhom Uamsamang from the Excise Department said selling alcoholic beverages in alcohol-free zones is subject to one year in prison and a fine not exceeding Bt20,000 (about US$613.36), and confirmed that new permits will not be issued to businesses int he alcohol-free zones.

11:59 | A seminar held by the Radio-Television Broadcasting Professional Federation (RTBPF) has been told that digital TV operators must reduce costs in all aspects of their business, particularly license fee payments.

Khemmathat Phonladet, chairman of RTBPF said the government should allow digital TV operators to suspend the payments for five year and pay a fee to maintain the right to operate every year during the five-year period.

13:24 | Five medical students have won Prince Mahidol Award Youth Program 2017 scholarships to pursue their research and training overseas for one year.

14:43 | A South Korean nurse has been awarded the Princess Srinagarinda Award 2017 for her work in developing a policy for improving the health of mothers and children, and for initiating a law on the nursing profession.

15:51 | The Department of National Parks, Wildlife and Plant Conservation (DNP) is making improvements to 184 national parks across the country to make them more suitable for tourists, with particular attention being made to garbage management and clean toilets.

People who drink alcohol, make loud noises, or gamble in national parks will be asked to leave, and face legal action if they refuse.

17:15 | The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) in Uthai Thani Province has warned residents not to burn roadside grass as it may impede the vision of motorists. Offenders are subject to prosecution.

19:47 | A UN report detailing the difficulty women in Thailand and Vietnam have in reporting, and obtaining justice for, sexual assault has been released in Bangkok. The report found institutional, societal, and legal barriers to woman achieving justice.
