00:42 | A government committee responsible for overseeing the funeral of the late King Bhumibol Adulyade has announced media broadcast plans for the royal funeral days. The TV Pool of Thailand will be responsible for the broadcast of the event, with Thai TV Global Network and NBT World serving as relay stations. The broadcast will be relayed to 12 radio stations nationwide and 177  television stations worldwide.

There will be a live feed of the atmosphere at different crematorium replicas and sandalwood stations in various provinces across the nation. An hour-long documentary about the late King will be aired prior to the telecast. For more information, visit www.kingrama9.net/en.

02:24 | Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha has received a resolution from the United States Senate honoring the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej for his diplomatic skills and role in developing Thai-US relations. Later at a meeting with Thai business owners in the USA the Siam- kcm Cement Group (SCG) signed two agreements to buy 155,000 tons of coal from US companies, with the first delivery expected in mid-April 2018.

04:04 | The Royal Thai Police (RTP) is gearing up to deploy heavy security during the royal cremation ceremony with more than 10,000 police to be stationed in and around the ceremonial grounds each day. Meanwhile the Ministry of Education (MoE) will manage volunteers providing food and drink, in addition to other services to assist the public, from 6am-10pm each day.

05:46 |  The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is converting a 3,000sq.m (32,291sq.ft) area around Mahakan Fort in Bangkok into a resting area for mourners during the royal cremation. The space is currently being paved with asphalt and tents will be erected by the middle of this month. Following the royal funeral the area will be turned into a park and learning center focusing on the history of the Rattanakosin Kingdom.

06:54 | Fields of yellow flowers planted in Yala and Nakhon Si Thammarateach, as well as other provinces nationwide, are on schedule to be in full bloom in time for the royal cremation ceremony later this month, as government units and the private sector begin to decorate offices and other important places with yellow flowers in preparation for the royal funeral ceremony.

08:10 | The national reform committee on law is preparing to present its plans to other national reform committees and the Cabinet for consideration and approval before December 25, with reforms being classified according to nine different criteria.

09:05 | Newsline takes an in depth look at the Net Pracharat project which aims to provide high speed internet access to rural areas in line with the Thailand 4.0 policy. So far some 3,000 villages nationwide have been provided with internet access with 24,700 more to be connected by the end of this year and another 20,000 by the end of next year.

15:24 | The Ministry of Energy (MoE) has introduced a new project aimed at promoting electric tuk-tuks as part of the country’s energy conservation plan. The  electric tuk tuks are expected reduce energy useage by 70 per cent, lower greenhouse gas emission by 60-70 per cent, and save more than 50 per cent in fuel costs. Pilot production of 100 electric tuk tuks will begin next year.

16:38 | The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) has opened the Innovation-Driven Entrepreneurship (IDE) Accelerator Center aimed at supporting entrepreneurs and boosting the country’s economic growth. The programme hopes to attract 1,000 entrepreneurs for a four-month training programme which will be led by experts from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).

18:08 | The Sustainable Rice Platform (SRP) has held the 2017 Sustainable Rice Conference and Exhibition aimed at bringing relevant organisations from the public and private sector together to exchange knowledge. According to Kundhavi Kadiresan, assistant director-general and regional representative for Asia and the Pacific of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), rice markets are continuously growing and the support of the public and private sectors are required to ensure sustainability.

21:41 | The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand’s (NBT) Yala office has welcomed 30 Malaysian media delegates on a visit of their office and other places in the three southern border provinces. The visit was aimed at strengthening ties among the two countries while also promoting the region’s Economic Triangle project.
