00:41 | Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha, has presided over a religious ceremony to bless the chariots that will be used for the royal cremation of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, marking the first time the chariots were officially brought out from the Funeral Chariot Hall at the National Museum in Bangkok after the restorations were completed.

01:51 | Minister for the Office of the Prime Minister, Aomsin Cheewapruek, met with related agencies to discuss the preparation of the royal cremation of the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and said the government will not designate any additional public holidays except for royal cremation day on October 26. The Royal Household Bureau is set to meet again on September 26 to discuss the layout and rundown of the ceremony.

The Bangkok Metropolitan government has also designated areas where mourners can gather during the cremation — including the Royal Plaza, the former Government Lottery Office, and the King Rama I Monument.

03:15 | The National Institute of Development Administration (NIDA) has held a seminar about Thailand’s economic recovery, where the Director of the Macroeconomic Policy Bureau, Soraphol Tulayasathien, said that Thailand needs to focus on the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) and e-transactions to stop its economy from slowing further.

04:25 | The National Legislative Assembly (NLA) has postponed the deliberation the new draft Land and Building Tax Act for 60 days.

The NLA also reviewed the draft law on the rehabilitation of juvenile offenders, with Justice Minister Suwapan Tanyuvardhana, saying that a new version of the law is needed because Thailand has no concrete mechanism to deal with juvenile criminal offenders.

05:58 | The government has begun to distribute Pracharat welfare cards to a total of 11.4 million people who have enrolled in the state welfare campaign for low-income earners.

From 1 October 2017, welfare card holders can use the card to pay for necessities and transport fares as outlined under the campaign. The remaining credit will expire by the end of each month and cannot be collected for future use, or converted into cash.
