• During an historic trip to Thailand by Japanese Emperor Akihito and Empress Michiko the Japanese royals have spent time honouring the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej, and making the acquaintance of King Maha Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun.

• The Royal Gazette has reported that King Vajiralongkorn Bodindradebayavarangkun has agreed to the government’s request to strip the former abbot of Wat Dhammakaya temple, Phra Dhammachayo, of his royal title ‘Phrathep Yarnmahamunee’ effective as of March 4 over his failure to submit to arrest warrants issued against him for money laundering, acceptance of stolen valuables and several other criminal charges.

• The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) has warned protesters at Dhammakaya temple to vacate the premises or face the consequences of the outcome, adding that the government will leave no stone unturned until the fugitive former abbot of Wat Dhammakaya is apprehended.

• The Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha has assured the public that the government is working to improve the country’s irrigation and water management system, while urging people to use water more efficiently as the country enters the ‘dry season’ with some districts already reporting water shortages.

• Thailand’s National Legislative Assembly (NLA) is to meet on March 9 and 10 to deliberate the impeachment of former foreign minister Surapong Tovichakchaikul for his decision to re-issue two new passports to former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

• Thailand Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, has held a meeting with executives of various state offices and private sector representatives at Krabi province to discuss the National Park entrance fee for foreign visitors. The resolution requires foreigners to pay Bt400.

• Thailand Minister of Tourism and Sports, Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul, has assured residents during a visit to Nakhon Si Thammarat that the government will continuing to assist flood-hit provinces by promoting local tourism and selling locally made products at tourist sites.

• The deputy governor of Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has led a group of military officers and municipal officers from the Public Works Department and the Drainage Department to Mahakan Fort to commence disassembly of ten houses and other structures left after the Administrative Court ruled in favour of the BMAs claim to turn the area in public space.

• Information and Communications Technology (ICT) learning centres being established in villages and provinces nationwide are helping residents digital marketing techniques for selling handicrafts on the internet to boost their businesses.
