Last year, the tourism sector saw an 18-per-cent increase in tourist arrivals compared with the same period in 2016, said Myo Win Nyunt, director of the Department of Hotels and Tourism.The country saw 3.44 million tourist arrivals last year, a bit below the predicted 3.5 million.
