We currently have vacancies for:

Native English-speaking standard editor

Editor job

The editor will be responsible for: mentoring, and overseeing the editorial team under the direction of the managing editor, in addition to researching and writing original material, rewriting and editing material from staff and contributing writers, attending media briefings, etc.

Applicants must have a journalism background and worked as either a full-time journalist or copy editor in one of the Asean Community countries. Experience at editing stories produced by non-native English speakers will be an advantage.

In addition the applicant must have:

Outstanding English language editing skills (note we publish in UK English)
A well rounded knowledge of the Asean region and the various issues relating to it and individual countries.
Impeccable ethics
Well developed logical thinking and cognitive skills
An appreciation and understanding of the differences between print and online news media
Enthusiasm for adopting the latest technology and techniques to improve reader experience
Interested in writing about policies and governance, not politics and governments

They should also have, or be willing to learn, basic search engine optimisation techniques (SEO), advanced web search techniques, digital media, social media, and fact checking skills, and be committed to the principles of professional journalism.

Familiarity with Photoshop, iMovie, and WordPress will be highly regarded.

The position would suit a journalist or copy editor with three+ years business journalism experience.

The position is based in Phnom Penh. Temporary accommodation can be provided to the successful applicant. Relocation expenses are not claimable.

Digital advertising sales specialist

Online advertising salesAEC News Today is seeking to recruit a digital advertising sales specialist to sell advertising to businesses operating throughout Asean.

The successful candidate will be a self starter who is comfortable in dealing with agency and in-house advertising staff in mid to large organisations. They will have several years experience at selling advertising space for digital media and have knowledge of the online media market.

The successful applicant will be paid a monthly salary which will be supplemented by generous commission on achieving agreed KPIs. The work can be done remotely.

The successful applicant will:

Be fluent in English. An additional language such as Chinese will be useful.
Be capable of writing proposals in English.
Have a well rounded knowledge of the Asean business environment
Have Impeccable ethics
Have well developed logical thinking and cognitive skills
An established network of industry contacts
Experience at planning and selling digital supplements
Experience or the ability to learn how to operate an advertising management and placement system.

Digital media specialist

Digital media specialistThe digital media specialist will be familiar with the Apple OSX operating system and applications such as Photoshop, and WordPress.

He or she will be required to:

• identify photographic images and video content for use on our website
• enhance photos prior to uploading them.
• write a 350 word English-language description about the content
• support writers by identifying photos and preparing them to accompany stories
• maintain the company Facebook Page and other social media accounts
• maintain and keep up to date a large digital image library
• be capable of editing video to a professional standard. (There is no videography involved with this position).

The position would suite a recent graduate or others with photography, video, or digital media experience. This job is for a Khmer national only.
