00:39 | The refurbishment of the Great Victory Chariot which will be used to transport the urn of the late king Bhumibol Adulyadej during his cremation ceremony in October is continuing at a steady rate.

02:00 | Representatives from the European-Asean Business Alliance (EABA) have met with Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha and expressed their support for the Thailand 4.0 initiative. The delegates were invited to invest in the Eastern Economic Corridor (EEC) project.

04:04 | Members of the public have continued to submit responses to the Prime Minister’s poll on democracy at district offices.

05:38 | The first deputy speaker of the National Reform Steering Assembly (NRSA), Alongkorn Ponlaboot, has committed to fully investigating any allegations of corruption while the country is going through reform. Commenting on the recent scandal surrounding the promotion and transfer of police officers, Mr Ponlaboot said the matter calls for witness protection for low ranking police officers, who are the whistleblowers in the matter.

07:02 | Deputy Prime Minister Dr Somkid Jatusripitak has urged all businesses to embrace Fintech as it will help reform the financial sector in line with the Thailand 4.0 policy and make the country more attractive to foreign investors. The comments came at a forum on Fintech organised by public and private agencies. Adding to Dr Jatusripitak’s comments, Veerathai Santiprabhob, Governor of the Bank of Thailand (BoT), added that embracing Fintech, which is still in its early stages in Thailand, will reduce barriers to international business.

08:34 | The Electronic Government Agency (EGA) has announced that it has developed cloud storage for Thailand government data. The ‘G Cloud’ system is an online database used by all ministries for a range of purposes. The EGA plans to upgrade the system to expand its capabilities to improve the lives of the people. The ‘G Cloud’ system is expected to deliver savings of more than Bt900 million (about US$26.557) in costs in the procurement sector.

09:38 | The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) has collaborated with an academic institution to analyse saving rates, using the results to make suggestions on how much money Thais should save in order to have sufficient funds for retirement. The research found that the majority of income of older people is from their children.

13:39 | The Ministry of Education (MoE) has announced that its external quality assessment criteria has been adjusted to focus on student achievements. The Council of State is currently reviewing the adjustments, which will take effect within the fiscal year.

14:51 | Water levels around the country are now receding following May’s heavy rainfall which saw wide-spread flooding. The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) has been collaborating with local military units and other agencies on providing flood relief efforts in affected provinces.

16:28 | Many provinces have organised blood collection drives to mark World Blood Donor Day 2017.

17:42 | The Public Relations Department (PRD) of Thailand has hosted the 8th PRD-VOV Joint Technical Committee Meeting, aimed at enhancing cooperation between Thailand’s PRD and Vietnam’s Voice of Vietnam (VOV) in media production.
