Things to Keep Kids Amused During The Singapore School Holidays (HD video)

Estimated Reading Time: 3 minutes |

For parents at a loss as to how to keep their children entertained, amused, and mentally stimulated during the Singapore school holidays Channel NewsAsia has produced a video and list of some of the most popular things parents can do with their children during the year-end school break.

Having looked through the suggestions offered we think it just won’t be the kids who will be having fun during these school holidays.

1. Check out a fire station

Children (and parents) can check out the work of firefighters and paramedics at fire stations across Singapore on Saturday mornings, while those who visit Central Fire Station at Hill Street will be guided by Civil Defence Auxiliary Unit volunteers.

In addition to seeing displays by paramedics and firefighters – including a mock fire fighting demonstration at 10am,  the opportunity avails to also learn some basic life-saving techniques.

No trip to a fire station would be complete with jumping inside the cab of the fire trucks and to make sure everyone feels part of the team the kiddies are provided with firefighters’ helmet.

2. Visit the Singapore Police Heritage Centre at the Police Headquarters near Novena MRT Station.

Singapore’s Police Force was formed in 1820 making it one of the country’s oldest government organisations. Check out the history of the Singapore Police at the Police Heritage Centre, located at the Police Headquarters near Novena MRT Station.

Inside are all sorts of cool static displays and interactive activities involving policing over the generations, including a Volkswagen Beetle police car.

3. Watch the Merlion come alive at Sentosa’s Pop-up Nights

Watch the amazing light and sound show at 7.45pm, 8.15pm, 8.45pm and 9.15pm on weekday evenings as well as additional shows at 9.45pm and 10.15pm on weekends, the eve of public holidays, as well as public holidays

In addition to the amazing light show there is the second iteration of Sentosa’s Pop Up Night featuring all manner of things that glow in the dark.

Other activities to keep children entertained include seeing if you have what it takes to be a circus performer at the Science Centre, sampling the various amusement rides at Marina Bay Carnival, experiencing virtual reality at the ArtScience Museum, or learning how to make kid-friendly snacks at Food for Tots.

All up, a great range of things for parents to do with their children during the Singapore school holidays, or at other times of the year too.
